Operations—Unauthorized Persons on Buses

Authorized Persons on School Buses—

The only persons authorized to board a school bus operated by the District are students, persons employed by the District, or persons volunteering as participants in school activities. The District will maintain an approved volunteer list. The Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee shall require any prospective volunteer to submit to a criminal background check at the board’s expense, and shall require the person to provide the information necessary for that purpose. Additionally, all approved volunteers will receive training from the superintendent or transportation director that will include supervisory duties and safety information.

Unauthorized Entry on School Bus—
Unauthorized entry of a school bus occurs in any of the following circumstances:

Posting of Warning—

Each school bus shall have a clearly legible sign placed by each entrance to the bus, which warns that unauthorized entry of a school bus is a violation of state law.
